Cynthia Dawn Art & Photography
As an artist, I am constantly influenced by my surroundings, friends, family, and experiences in life.

With a variety of mediums to choose from, I prefer acrylic paint, digital photography, and graphic art applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Bryce...).

I choose Acrylics, for their forgiving and versatile nature.

Depending on the piece, I paint in combinations of opaque and transparent layers, with color and simple line.

My Picasso-esque style was loosely developed, back in the the late 1980's, while in college. At the time, I didn't get alot of positive feedback about this style, so I all but scrapped it, keeping one obscure piece in my portfolio.

One day, approx. 16 years later, I showed my portfolio to a very dear friend of mine. Of all the pieces, he really liked the obscure one. I was so pleased...that not only did I give him the original, but I ended up painting a newer... more modern, polished version of it. I even asked him to help title the piece.....Romantic Confusion II.

From there, I was inspired to continue painting in that style...and even took it in a new direction.....my signature curled up noses and rounded eyes.

Since that time, I have created many pieces in that style, garnering alot of attention from gallery owners, and collectors, and have been featured in magazine & newspaper articles. A partial listing of publications can be found on my resume page.

As a photographer, I enjoy the journey and experimentation. I am more about composition and personality/ subject matter of the piece, rather than the technical aspects. My current camera of choice is my Olympus Pen E-PL1, and from time to time, a Nikon D80 and a Nikon D3100.

Welcome to my world!
